01 โ€” Platform Overview

What is Daraz?

Daraz is South Asia’s largest e-commerce marketplace, owned by Alibaba Group since 2018. Operating in 5 countries with 40 million monthly active buyers, it connects 100,000+ sellers with consumers across Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar.

๐Ÿช
Third-Party Marketplace
Daraz is a platform marketplace โ€” you sell your own products through Daraz’s website and app to millions of buyers, while Daraz handles the tech infrastructure, marketing, and in most cases, last-mile logistics.
๐Ÿ“ฑ
Mobile-First Platform
Over 80% of Daraz orders come from mobile. The Daraz App is consistently ranked Pakistan’s #1 shopping app. Mobile-optimized listings โ€” clear images, concise titles, fast-loading pages โ€” convert significantly better.
๐Ÿ˜
Alibaba Ecosystem
As an Alibaba Group company, Daraz benefits from Alibaba’s global logistics, payment, and tech infrastructure. Cross-border selling, Alipay integration, and AliExpress-like seller tools are all part of the ecosystem.
๐Ÿš€
Daraz Express (DEX)
Daraz’s own logistics arm, Daraz Express, provides same-day and next-day delivery in major cities. DEX handles pickup from your location, warehousing, packing, and last-mile delivery โ€” Daraz’s equivalent of Amazon FBA.
๐ŸŽ‰
Mega Sales Events
11.11 (Singles’ Day), 12.12, Daraz Birthday Sale, Black Friday, and Eid Sales drive massive traffic spikes. Sellers enrolled in these campaigns can see 5โ€“20x normal daily sales volume. Campaign enrollment is free through Seller Center.
๐ŸŽ“
Daraz University
Free training platform for Daraz sellers. Covers listing optimization, sponsored ads, campaign enrollment, Daraz Express, NPS score management, and performance metrics. Essential for new sellers to complete within the first month.
๐Ÿ’ก
Daraz vs Amazon vs Shopify
Daraz is a marketplace (like Amazon) โ€” you list on their platform and reach their buyer base with zero upfront marketing cost. Unlike Shopify (your own store), Daraz gives you built-in traffic but charges commissions per sale. Unlike Amazon globally, Daraz is hyper-focused on South Asia, which means less competition from Western sellers and deeper local buyer trust in this region. No registration fee. No monthly subscription. You only pay when you sell.
02 โ€” Country Guide

Daraz by Country

Daraz operates officially in 5 South Asian markets. Each country has its own Seller Center, local payment methods, logistics network, and regulatory requirements.

๐ŸŒ Other Countries โ€” โ€” โ€” โ€” Not Available Daraz does not operate in India, UAE, Europe, Americas, or other regions. Sellers outside South Asia can only register through cross-border programs (if available).
๐Ÿ“
Selling Across Multiple Daraz Countries
Each country requires a separate Seller Center account. You cannot use one account to sell in all 5 countries simultaneously โ€” you must register on each country’s Seller Center individually. Cross-border selling (shipping from Pakistan to Bangladesh buyers, for example) is not available through standard accounts and requires special approval from Daraz.
03 โ€” Business Models

Daraz Selling Models

There are multiple ways to build a profitable business on Daraz โ€” from reselling to private label. Choose the model that fits your capital, skills, and goals.

๐Ÿ”„
Reselling / Retail Arbitrage
Buy products at wholesale or retail prices (local markets, importers, Alibaba) and resell on Daraz at a higher price. Lowest barrier to entry. Best for beginners. Start with popular categories like electronics accessories, home goods, or fashion. Capital: PKR 10,000โ€“50,000 to start.
๐Ÿท๏ธ
Private Label
Source generic products (from China via Alibaba, or local manufacturers), brand them with your own label, and sell exclusively. Higher margins, brand loyalty, and product control. Requires: product research, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and brand registration. Best for experienced sellers.
๐Ÿญ
Wholesale / Distributor
Buy large quantities directly from manufacturers or official distributors, and sell to Daraz buyers at retail margins. Works well for FMCG, personal care, and electronics accessories. Requires bulk capital (PKR 100K+) but offers predictable margins and reorder cycles.
๐Ÿšš
Dropshipping
List products on Daraz without holding inventory. When an order comes in, you purchase from your supplier and ship directly to the buyer (or have them ship). Daraz technically allows this but delivery speed requirements make it difficult. Use only with suppliers who can ship within 24โ€“48 hrs.
โœ๏ธ
Handmade / Artisan
Sell handmade goods โ€” jewelry, clothing, handicrafts, home dรฉcor โ€” directly to buyers. Growing demand for authentic local artisan products on Daraz. No formal business registration needed to start (personal account). Excellent for Pakistan’s textile and crafts sector.
๐Ÿ’ป
Cross-Border / Import
Daraz has a cross-border seller program for approved merchants โ€” primarily Chinese exporters selling into South Asia. For local sellers, importing products from China, Turkey, or UAE and relisting on Daraz is common. Understand import duties, customs clearance, and product compliance before importing.
04 โ€” Fees & Commissions

Daraz Fees Explained

Daraz charges no registration fee and no monthly subscription. You only pay when you make a sale. Here’s every fee you’ll encounter as a Daraz seller.

๐Ÿท๏ธ Commission Fee 0%โ€“25%
Category-based percentage deducted from your selling price on every completed order. This is Daraz’s main revenue from sellers. Rates vary widely: Electronics as low as 2โ€“5%, Fashion up to 12โ€“17%, Gifts up to 25%.
๐Ÿ’ณ Payment Processing Fee 1%โ€“2%
Applied on every transaction (including Cash on Delivery). Daraz charges approximately 1โ€“2% of the order value to process the payment and remit it to your bank account. This is separate from commission.
๐Ÿ“ฆ Shipping Fee (DEX) Fixed
If using Daraz Express, shipping fees are charged per delivery and vary by package weight, dimensions, and destination city. DEX rates are competitive vs. third-party couriers for most standard parcels. You can pass shipping cost to buyers or absorb it.
๐Ÿ›๏ธ GST / VAT / Tax 13โ€“18%
Applied on Daraz’s commission and fees (not your selling price). Pakistan: GST 13โ€“16% on commission by province. Bangladesh: VAT 15%. Daraz deducts this automatically from your payout โ€” you don’t need to calculate it separately.
๐Ÿ“ข Sponsored Ads (Optional) CPC
Daraz Sponsored Products works like Google Ads โ€” you bid per click on your listings. Minimum daily budget: PKR 100. Ads appear in search results and category pages. Optional but recommended for new sellers to gain initial visibility.
โ†ฉ๏ธ Return Handling Fee Varies
If a buyer returns an item, reverse logistics fees may apply (charged to seller or buyer depending on the return reason). Seller-fault returns (wrong item, defective) โ€” seller bears cost. Buyer-fault returns โ€” buyer may bear cost. Always check your category’s return policy.

Commission Rates by Category (Pakistan โ€” 2025)

Category Commission Rate Notes
๐Ÿ“ฑ Mobiles & Tablets2% โ€“ 3%Lowest commissions. High volume. Very competitive category.

๐Ÿš— Auto & Motorbike3% โ€“ 6%Parts and accessories. Growing rapidly in Pakistan.
๐Ÿงฎ
How to Calculate Your Net Payout
Net Payout = Selling Price โˆ’ Commission (%) โˆ’ Payment Fee (1โ€“2%) โˆ’ GST on fees โˆ’ Shipping Fee (if using DEX) + Shipping Charged to Buyer. Example: PKR 1,000 Fashion item โ†’ Commission (12%) = PKR 120 โ†’ Payment fee (2%) = PKR 20 โ†’ GST on fees โ‰ˆ PKR 20 โ†’ Shipping to buyer (PKR 150 collected, PKR 100 DEX cost) = +PKR 50 net โ†’ You receive approximately PKR 890. Use Daraz’s built-in Profit Calculator in Seller Center for exact figures.

07 โ€” Launch Guide

How to Start Selling on Daraz

From zero to your first sale in as little as 3โ€“5 days. Follow these steps in order for the fastest, smoothest onboarding experience.

1

Choose Your Country’s Seller Center

Go to the correct Seller Center for your country: sellercenter.daraz.pk (Pakistan), .daraz.com.bd (Bangladesh), .daraz.lk (Sri Lanka), .daraz.com.np (Nepal), or .daraz.com.mm (Myanmar). Do NOT use a different country’s Seller Center โ€” your account must match where you physically operate and where your bank account is held.

2

Select Account Type: Personal or Corporate

Personal Account: Individual with CNIC (Pakistan) or NID (Bangladesh). No NTN/business registration required. Good for individuals and sole traders starting out. Corporate Account: Registered business with NTN (Pakistan) or Trade License (Bangladesh). Required if your business is formally registered. Corporate accounts often get higher selling limits and better seller support.

3

Fill the Registration Form

You’ll need: mobile number (for OTP), email address, shop name (must be unique, no numbers, no famous brand names like “Daraz”), password, and your full name as on ID. Your shop name becomes your public store identity โ€” choose something memorable and professional. You cannot easily change it later.

4

Verify Your Identity (ID Documents)

Upload clear, high-quality scans of both sides of your CNIC (Pakistan) or NID (Bangladesh). Corporate sellers: upload NTN certificate and business registration document. Documents must match your registered name. Blurry, expired, or mismatched documents will cause rejection โ€” use a good phone camera with good lighting.

5

Link Your Bank Account

Add your bank account for payouts: Account Title (must exactly match your CNIC/NTN name), Account Number, Bank Name, Branch Code, and upload a clear bank cheque copy (showing your name, IBAN, and account number). This is how Daraz will pay you every week. Mismatches between your CNIC name and bank account name are the #1 reason for verification rejection.

6

Order Daraz Packaging Material

This step is unique to Daraz โ€” and often overlooked. Ordering Daraz-branded packaging from Seller Center (using your registered email) signals to Daraz’s verification team that you’re a serious seller and accelerates your account approval. Order poly mailers or boxes based on your product sizes. This is typically required for account verification, not optional.

7

Set Up Your Store Profile

Add a professional store logo (minimum 300ร—300px), store banner (1200ร—300px), and a clear store description with your product categories. Buyers see your store profile โ€” a complete, professional profile builds trust and increases conversion rates significantly, especially for new stores without reviews.

8

Complete Daraz University Training

Go to Daraz University (available in Seller Center) and complete the onboarding modules. This covers: listing quality standards, commission structures, packaging requirements, returns process, and how to use Seller Center. Takes about 2โ€“3 hours. Sellers who complete Daraz University are less likely to make listing errors that cause removals.

9

List Your First Products

Use Products โ†’ Add Products in Seller Center. Each listing needs: title, category, brand, product basics (specs), at least 3 high-quality images (minimum 800ร—800px white background recommended), price, quantity, and delivery settings. Listings go through a Quality Control (QC) review โ€” typically 1โ€“2 business days before going live.

10

Go Live & Manage Orders

Once listings are approved and your shop is verified, you’re live. Download the Daraz Seller Center App (Android/iOS) to manage orders on the go. When an order comes in: confirm it within 24 hours, pack it using Daraz packaging, schedule DEX pickup or drop off at a Daraz hub. Ship on time โ€” late shipping damages your seller score and ranking.

โ›”
Top Reasons Daraz Accounts Get Rejected
Account title and CNIC name don’t match bank account title ยท Blurry or cropped ID scans ยท Numeric-only shop name or using “Daraz” / famous brand names in your shop name ยท Invalid or inactive bank cheque ยท Incomplete address ยท Location in an area without Daraz coverage ยท Duplicate account from the same CNIC. Verify all details carefully before submitting to avoid delays.
08 โ€” Listing Optimization

Creating High-Converting Listings

Your listing is your storefront. Optimized listings rank higher in Daraz search, convert more browsers to buyers, and receive fewer returns.

๐Ÿ“
Listing Title Formula
Best format: [Brand] + [Product Name] + [Key Feature] + [Size/Color/Model]. Example: “Samsung Galaxy A55 5G Smartphone 8GB RAM 256GB Storage Black”. Daraz allows up to 255 characters โ€” use it. Include keywords buyers search for. Avoid: ALL CAPS, special symbols, or misleading claims. Title quality directly affects your Listing Quality Score (LQS).
๐Ÿ“ธ
Product Images
Minimum 3 images; 8 recommended. Main image: white background, product centered, minimum 800ร—800px. Additional images: show different angles, product in use (lifestyle shots), close-ups of key features, size reference, packaging. No watermarks, text overlays, or promotional badges on main image. High-quality images dramatically increase click-through and conversion rates.
๐Ÿ“‹
Product Description
Use bullet points for key features (buyers skim, not read). Include: dimensions/weight, materials, compatibility, warranty info, care instructions. For fashion: exact measurements in cm (not S/M/L only). Use local language (Urdu/Bengali) if targeting non-English speaking buyers โ€” Daraz supports both. More detail = fewer questions = fewer returns.
๐ŸŽฏ
Keywords & Search Optimization
Daraz Search works like Google โ€” keyword-rich titles and descriptions rank higher. Research: search for your product on Daraz and note what autocomplete suggests. Include both English and Urdu/Bengali keywords if relevant. Use Daraz’s built-in keyword suggestion tool in Seller Center under the Listing Quality tab. Update keywords monthly as trends change.
๐Ÿ’ฐ
Pricing Strategy
Research: search your product and filter by Bestsellers to see competitor prices. Never price below cost after all fees. Set a “slashed” price (original price) and a sale price โ€” the visible discount drives conversions. Daraz buyers are highly price-sensitive. If a competitor lists for less without sacrificing quality, you will lose the sale. Review prices weekly in competitive categories.
โญ
Listing Quality Score (LQS)
Daraz gives every listing a Listing Quality Score (0โ€“100). Higher LQS = better organic ranking. Improve LQS by: adding all attributes (brand, model, color, size, material), 8 images, detailed description, accurate category, correct price and stock levels. Target LQS 80+ for all listings. Check your LQS under Products โ†’ My Products in Seller Center.
09 โ€” Logistics & Fulfillment

Shipping & Fulfillment Options

How your orders get from your hands to your buyer’s door. Daraz offers multiple logistics models โ€” choose the right one for your volume and product type.

๐Ÿš€
Daraz Express (DEX) โ€” Recommended
Daraz’s own logistics network. You pack the order using Daraz packaging, and DEX picks it up from your door (or you drop it at a DEX hub). DEX handles delivery to the buyer. Benefits: Daraz protects you from delivery-related disputes (if DEX loses the parcel, it’s Daraz’s liability). Best for standard parcels. Fastest buyer delivery times in major cities.
๐Ÿ“ฆ
Third-Party Couriers
For sellers in areas not covered by DEX, or for bulky/heavy items DEX doesn’t handle, you can use approved third-party couriers: TCS, Leopards, M&P (Pakistan); Pathao, Steadfast (Bangladesh); etc. You generate a Daraz shipping label, book the courier yourself, and update the tracking number in Seller Center. You bear responsibility for delivery disputes.
๐Ÿญ
Daraz Fulfillment (DFC) โ€” Warehousing
Available to eligible sellers in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Send your inventory to a Daraz Fulfillment Center โ€” Daraz stores, packs, ships, and handles returns for you. Similar to Amazon FBA. Benefits: same-day delivery badge, hands-free operations, higher ranking in search. Requires minimum inventory and stable sales velocity. Apply through Seller Center.
๐Ÿ“ฆ
Daraz Packaging Requirements
All parcels must be packed in Daraz-branded poly mailers or boxes. Do NOT use unbranded packaging or competitor packaging. Package the product safely with adequate padding. Write or print the order ID on the parcel. The label must be securely attached and scannable. Using correct Daraz packaging is required for DEX pickup and for maintaining your seller performance score. Order packaging materials from your Seller Center dashboard.

10 โ€” Payments & Payouts

Getting Paid on Daraz

How Daraz collects buyer payments, deducts fees, and transfers money to your bank account โ€” including options for international sellers.

๐Ÿ’ต
Cash on Delivery (COD)
The dominant payment method in Pakistan and Bangladesh โ€” often 60โ€“70% of all Daraz orders. Buyer pays cash to the DEX delivery rider. Daraz collects the cash and remits it to you in your weekly payout (minus fees). As a seller, you cannot opt out of COD in most markets โ€” buyers expect it. Plan your cash flow around weekly payouts, not immediate payment.
๐Ÿ“ฑ
Mobile Wallets & Digital Payments
Pakistan: JazzCash, Easypaisa. Bangladesh: bKash, Nagad, Rocket. Sri Lanka: FriMi, PayHere. These are processed online โ€” you receive payment faster (next-day settlement vs. COD weekly). Digital payment orders have lower return rates than COD. Encourage digital payment via discount vouchers for non-COD orders.
๐Ÿ’ณ
Credit & Debit Cards
Visa, Mastercard, and local bank cards accepted on Daraz checkout. Growing among urban, higher-income buyers. Daraz handles all card processing โ€” no additional setup required from sellers. Card payments are settled in your weekly payout alongside all other order types.
๐Ÿฆ
Seller Payouts
Daraz pays sellers weekly โ€” typically every Tuesday or Wednesday. Payout covers: all completed and delivered orders from the previous period, minus commissions, payment fees, GST on fees, and any returns/refunds. Funds are deposited directly to your registered bank account. COD orders only pay out after successful delivery and confirmation.
๐ŸŒ
Payoneer for International Sellers
Sellers outside South Asia, or those without a local bank account in the market they sell in, can use Payoneer (Daraz’s official payment partner). Create a Payoneer account โ†’ link it to your Seller Center as your payout method โ†’ receive USD/local currency โ†’ withdraw to your home bank. Works in 200+ countries. Ideal for the Pakistani diaspora selling remotely.
๐Ÿ“Š
Payout Statements & Reconciliation
Download detailed payout statements from Seller Center โ†’ Finance โ†’ Payout Statements. Each statement shows: gross sales, commissions deducted, fees, taxes, refunds, and net payout. Review weekly to spot discrepancies. If a deduction seems wrong, raise a case through Seller Center โ†’ Help Center within 30 days โ€” disputed deductions may not be recovered after that.
โšก
COD Return Risk โ€” Plan Your Cash Flow
COD orders have a significantly higher return rate (15โ€“30%) compared to digital payments (3โ€“8%). Buyers can reject delivery at the door. When a COD order is returned: you get the product back, but you pay reverse logistics fees. Price your products to remain profitable even with a 15โ€“20% COD return rate. Sellers who don’t account for this often lose money on popular but return-heavy categories like fashion.
11 โ€” Required Documents

Seller Registration Checklist

CORPORATE / BUSINESS

+
NTN Certificate (Pakistan)National Tax Number certificate issued by FBR. Required for all business accounts. Get NTN registration at FBR’s IRIS portal (iris.fbr.gov.pk) โ€” free and takes 24โ€“48 hours. NTN is also required to claim input tax credits on your purchases.
+
Trade License (Bangladesh)City Corporation or Paurashava-issued trade license. Required for all corporate Daraz Bangladesh accounts. Renewable annually. If you don’t have one, register with your local City Corporation office.
+
Business Registration CertificateFor companies: Certificate of Incorporation (SECP in Pakistan, RJSC in Bangladesh). For partnerships: Partnership Deed. For sole proprietors: local council business registration or NTN is sufficient in most cases.
+
Sales Tax Registration (SRB/FBR)If your annual turnover exceeds the sales tax threshold, register for sales tax. Pakistan: FBR for federal, SRB/KPRA/PBRA for provincial services tax. Required for issuing tax invoices. Daraz deducts GST on their fees regardless โ€” this is for your own business tax compliance.
+
Brand Authorization LetterIf selling branded products you didn’t manufacture, you need a letter from the brand or their authorized distributor confirming you are allowed to sell their products on Daraz. Without this, brand-name listings may be challenged or removed by the brand’s IP protection team.
โœ“
Business Bank AccountA dedicated business bank account (separate from personal) is strongly recommended for corporate sellers. Makes accounting, tax filing, and payout reconciliation significantly easier. Also required by most banks for registering under a business name.
12 โ€” Expert Strategies

Pro Tips to Dominate Daraz

Strategies from top-performing Daraz sellers doing PKR 500Kโ€“5M/month. Implement these from day one to grow faster than average.

๐Ÿ“Š
Start With 20โ€“30 SKUs, Not 5
New sellers with more listings get more search exposure and faster data on what sells. List 20โ€“30 products in a focused niche at launch. Review performance after 30 days: double down on the top 5โ€“10 sellers, remove slow movers. More SKUs = more chances to find your winning products. One hit product can pay for all the experiments.
๐ŸŽช
Enroll in Every Daraz Campaign
11.11, 12.12, Eid Sale, Mid-Year Sale, Black Friday โ€” campaign-enrolled products get massive traffic boosts and homepage visibility. Enrollment is free and requires: sufficient stock, competitive pricing, and minimum LQS. Set a campaign price (discounted) and stock level. Campaigns can generate 5โ€“20x normal daily sales โ€” prepare your inventory and logistics in advance.

Chase Early Reviews Aggressively
Listings with 10+ positive reviews convert 3โ€“4x better than zero-review listings. First 30 days: message every buyer via Daraz chat after delivery โ€” thank them and politely ask for a review. Include a small “Thank you” card in your packaging with a QR code to your store. Never offer discounts for reviews (prohibited) โ€” just ask sincerely. Reviews compound over time.

Answer Buyer Questions Instantly
Buyers who ask questions convert at 60%+ if answered within 1 hour. Enable Daraz Seller Center app notifications. Respond to every chat within 1โ€“2 hours during business hours. Unanswered queries = lost sales. Daraz also uses your chat response rate in your seller performance score โ€” below 80% response rate hurts your visibility.

Use Bundles to Increase Order Value
Bundle complementary products: phone case + screen protector + charger. Bundles increase average order value (AOV), reduce per-unit shipping cost, and differentiate you from single-item competitors. List bundles as a single SKU at a slight discount vs. buying individually. Bundles also reduce competition โ€” fewer sellers match your exact bundle.

Use Daraz Sponsored Ads for New Listings
New listings with zero sales have poor organic ranking. Run Sponsored Product Ads for the first 2โ€“4 weeks on new listings โ€” even with PKR 200โ€“500/day budget. The initial paid sales generate reviews, ranking history, and conversion data. Once a listing has 10+ sales and reviews, organic ranking improves significantly and you can reduce or stop ads.

Refresh Slow-Moving Listings
If a listing has had zero sales in 30 days: improve the title with different keywords, add more images, reduce the price by 10%, add the item to a flash deal, or revise the description. Sometimes a listing just needs better SEO or images to start converting. Before giving up on a product, exhaust all listing optimization options โ€” the product may be fine but the listing weak.

Minimize Returns Through Accuracy
The #1 cause of returns on Daraz is “item not as described.” Fix this by: writing exact measurements (not just S/M/L), photographing real product not stock photos, describing exact color (not just “blue” โ€” “navy blue”), listing actual compatibility. A 1% reduction in return rate can save thousands of PKR monthly in reverse logistics costs and maintain your seller score.

Plan for Pakistan’s Peak Shopping Calendar
Stock up and optimize listings ahead of: Eid ul Fitr (fashion, gifts, food โ€” 30 days before), Eid ul Adha (kitchen, home goods โ€” 20 days before), 11.11 Singles Day (all categories โ€” biggest Daraz event), Back to School (Julyโ€“August, stationery and electronics), Winter Season (Octโ€“Dec, clothing and heaters). Sellers who prepare inventory 2โ€“3 weeks early capture more sales during peak periods.
